Laura Warholic, AKA Merv Glisten (one half of gloom-pop dynamo, Angels in America), brings us a bizarre, otherworldly dictation of click-clack static, sickly ditties, and cautionary spoken word. Recorded over the course of two years, and with landmark results, I am incredibly proud to be releasing this thoughtful and captivating collection of songs. Edition of 50.
FAX 028: Noise Nomads - “Menacing Bells” C30
The swamp hag lifts himself out of the mire for another screeching, swirling onslaught of harsh owl howl, bowls and sticks turned into tools of oppression. Is that the door? Is it...? Edition of 100.
Both available now from Faux-Pas Recordings.

"The world is a big place and Russia is long way away. Post-Materialists hail from Moscow and their style of fringe music is as far removed from what I'm used to as their location is removed from me geographically. I dig how "classically weird" they sound -- no reverb, very little delay, relatively clean recordings, lots of backwards sounds and an emphasis on odd textures, plain and simple. So if you're concerned about whether the music you listen to sounds "cool" or not, you can skip this one. For real. But if you're ok with things being playful and a little odd, you will get some enjoyment out of this tape. It's definitely out of the ordinary. The singing is in Russian!"
You can grab a copy from their official mail order zone.

Remember all those weird green pages that have appeared intermittently on this blog? Well, those and some unseen others have been collected into an oversized 28-page comic book, premiering at the Toronto Comics Art Festival this weekend, courtesy of Secret Acres. Put simply, it is the true story of the end of humanity as we know it, the impending end times, and the world that exists thereafter (featuring Dracula and Jackie Chan). There will be extremely limited quantities at the convention, so if you're going, get at it quick (I'll be there too!), but it should be printed in a full run soon after to be found in all the regular comics haunts.

If you missed it at MoCCA, you can check out the newest issue of the Sundays comics anthology, "Forever Changes". It features work by some of my favorite names, as well as an 8-page story by yours truly entitled "Greased Samurai". Here is a sample:
Also, as a side note: check out this article from the San Francisco Chronicle that mentions me and Matt Furie's "Hot Topic" zine alongside Best Coast, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma, and Wavves. Far out...
A couple live jammers from the Bloomington, IN supergroup on one side (feat. a guest appearance by Ryan Jewell and a remix by Dereck Higgins), and a woozy sashay by everyone's favorite non-electric, desert dwellers on the other.

New cassette courtesy of YDLMIER tapes:
"Voice and modified electronics on this tape from Sam. News reports, live action, cassette collage. The tape you listen to in a detention hall where all the desks are made of wool and your chair is a throbbing pile of boyfriend/ girlfriend heat. the bell rings but you only hear the squealing, dying keyboards of hours lost."
Made in an edition of 40, so get one quick!
